Under limited supervision, provides analysis and performance of quality technical procedures for the benefit of optimum patient care within the limits of labo! ratory policy and procedures according to FDA, JCAHO, CAP, STATE, AABB and OSHA regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Qualifies as a Technician following CLIA-88 standards and the Georgia Clinical Laboratory Licensure Law. Graduate of an accredited two year program for Medical Laboratory Assistants and registered with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as an MLT (ASCP) or eligible for the registry. One year after employment is the maximum time given an individual to become registered. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care (i.e., Phlebotomy for laboratory testing and Point of Care testing) appropriate to the age of the patient’s seen in their assigned area. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide the care needed by our pa! tient groups (i.e., neo-nate, pediatric, adolescent and/or ger! iatric). Normal color vision in order to discriminate and verify diagnostic laboratory stains and color dependent test.
