The Patient Care Technician functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team to organize and provide quality patient care services under the supervision of a licen! sed professional.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the basic delivery of patient care as assigned by licensed professional personnel using age and developmentally appropriate standards.
Maintains department and patient care equipment as assigned.
Communicates information relating to patient care job activities, needs and responsibilities for the assigned shift to appropriate personnel. Utilizes effective organization and communication skills in prioritizing and delivering patient care.
Initiates and participates in continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided.
Acts as a role model for organizational and developmental skills.
Assists departmental leadership team in the development of other staff members.
Accepts responsibility for own growth, development and professional conduct
While clinical staff may serve a specific patient population! , they have the potential to care for patients within the age ! population range served at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Clinical staff will have competencies that will incorporate age specific guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Certification as a Nursing Assistant, or Medical Assistant, or EMT, or nursing student who has successfully completed one clinical rotation, or one (1) year previous clinical hospital experience preferred.
Two (2) years previous pediatric experience preferred.
Competencies, as defined by the department, must be completed within six months of hire.
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required
Demonstrated leadership abilities and documentation of ongoing development and training.
American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers course completion care or the American Red Cross course equivalent, which is CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, required.
! Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of date of hire.
