The Technician functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team to organize and provide quality patient care services under the superv! ision of a licensed professional.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in the basic delivery of patient care as assigned by licensed professional personnel using age and developmentally appropriate standards.- to include vital sign assessment and patient triage.
Demonstrates competency in phlebotomy skills or proficiency within first six months of hire.
Utilizes and maintains department and patient care equipment as assigned.
Communicates information relating to patient care job activities, needs and responsibilities for the assigned shift to appropriate personnel. Utilizes effective organization and communication skills in prioritizing, delivering, and documenting patient care, and documents the tasks/procedure/care that is provided.
Initiates and participates in continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided.
Acts as a role model for organizational and develo! pmental skills.
Assists departmental leadership team ! in the development of other staff members.
Accepts responsibility for own growth, development and professional conduct
While clinical staff may serve a specific patient population, they have the potential to care for patients within the age population range served at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Clinical staff will have competencies that will incorporate age specific guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Must have a certification as a Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician with pediatric or hospital experience, OR be a Registered Nursing Student who has successfully completed one clinical rotation,
OR
you must have at least one (1) year of previous clinical hospital experience
Competencies as defined by the department must be completed within six (6) months of hire.
2 years pediatric healt! h care experience is preferred.
American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers course completion care or the American Red Cross course equivalent, which is CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, required.
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required
Demonstrated leadership abilities and documentation of ongoing development and training.
Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of date of hire.
