The Senior Cardiac Sonographer performs prescribed non-invasive cardiology testing on identified patients and assists in supervising the daily operat! ions of the Non Invasive Cardiology Department. .
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs cardiac sonographic procedures producing scans of highest diagnostic quality through evaluation and selection of proper machine settings and proper patient positioning to produce the optimum images for cardiologist interpretation while using an age-specific approach.
Identifies pediatric cardiac anomalies as obtained through cardiac sonography.
Gathers patient history and information pertinent to exam to be performed in order to assist in the diagnosis and communicates this to the cardiologist.
Utilizes assigned Syngo PACS information system functions, ensuring functions are used properly and completely, and information is entered accurately.
Ensures accuracy of all patient documentation.
Ensures accuracy of billing for all procedures.
Maintains ARDMS/CCI registered status.
Maintains professi! onal development.
Assists in the development and mana! gement of the performance improvement and quality control activities in the lab.
Ensures patient safety and quality of care/service is provided in the laboratory.
Operates all cardiac sonography equipment according to specifications.
Assists physicians, nurses and other staff when requested or when required.
Coordinates the precepting of new employees, residents, and students including, but not limited to:
takes ownership of training process
provides clinical and didactic training for trainees
evaluates trainee performance and provides feedback
Provides on call services as defined by the cardiac sonography lab.
Performs advanced cardiac sonography procedures, including fetal echocardiography.
Participates in clinical research.
Develops and maintains monthly departmental schedules.
Takes an active role in the coordination and development of educational opportunities in! the department, including, but not limited to:
submitting case reports to peer-reviewed journals
giving presentations at local and national conferences
participating in annual "Echo Boot Camp" fellowship echocardiography training
Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates Degree or Bachelor Degree in cardiovascular technology, diagnostic medical sonography, nursing or health care related field preferred.
Must be registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer (RDCS-PE) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or registered congenital cardiac sonographer (RCCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International, with current or "active" status.
Five years cardiac sonography experience and a minimum of three years full-time experience in a pediatric cardiac sonography position preferred.
Fetal echocardiography experience preferred.
BLS c! ertification is required.
Must be able to successfully pass th! e Basic Windows Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of hire.
