The Medical Support Assistant:
Assists physician/provider with patient examination procedures and support with exams as needed
Collects and accurately documents patient information and provides patient education
Assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the supervision of the physician/provider
The Medical Support Assistant performs the following essential responsibilities:
Effectively assists physicians/providers with patient examinations in an efficient and courteous manner
Contributes to patient data base by collecting and accurately documenting information such as height, weight, allergies, vital signs, and patient education needs for review by the physician/provider
Performs phlebotomy and basic laboratory tests as directed
Provides for patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
Assists with patient flow by registerin! g patients and assisting with other front desk duties as neede! d
Provides for patient safety through preventative measures
Provides age appropriate care
The ideal Medical Support Assistant should possess the following minimum qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent required
Medical Assistant Certification or equivalent required
Demonstrated clinical experience required and prior clinical experience in an out-patient or physician office setting preferred
Must demonstrate phlebotomy, injection and basic lab skills
Positive interpersonal communication skills, cooperative attitude, tactful and sensitive while using sound judgment when relating to others
BCLS preferred
