The Echo Technician performs diagnostic quality ultras! ound studies of the heart and great vessels. The technician works independently and works closely with the Cardiologists and their staff. The technician assumes responsibility for professional growth and development by learning and refining scanning techniques, measurements, and preliminary interpretations. Cardiac ultrasound is performed on patients of all ages including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The technician is required to have discretion, sound judgment, and awareness of budgetary responsibility. The technician will spend 75-80% of the time relating to others and therefore needs positive interpersonal skills. The Echo Technician performs the following essential responsibilities:
Respo! nds appropriately to "Stats", "Asap" and "Today" requests for ! cardiac ultrasound studies.
Consistently obtains every view with quantitative landmarks in each view.
Operates equipment safely and keeps it in working order. Troubleshoots simple problems.
Recognizes and reports life-threatening ultrasound findings.
Measures echoes according to protocol. Prepares reports and video for physician review.
Complies with time and attendance in accordance with SGHS policies.
The ideal Echo Technician should possess the following minimum qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of a recognized school of Cardiac Ultrasound.
Up to two (2) years of experience in Cardiac Ultrasound, registered by ARDMS or CCI.
BCLS preferred.
