The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, seeks to fill a new junior faculty position for an epidemiologist who will work with the Centerâs clinical investigators to develop innovative approaches to research in non-malignant hematologic disorders. The Center provides a rich and collaborative environment for epidemiologic research, with a well-funded Clinical Research Office directed by a senior faculty epidemiologist focused in clinical outcomes research. This new position is an important component of the Centerâs strategic plan to expand and strengthen health services and outcomes research in no! n-malignant hematology, particularly in the areas of sickle ce! ll disease and bleeding and clotting disorders.
- The Sickle Cell Disease Program, the largest in the US, provides specialty care to 1,710 children and adolescents on the 3 campuses of Childrenâs Healthcare of Atlanta. Federally funded clinical and translational research projects focus on pain, quality of life, and the prediction, prevention and treatment of chronic organ damage. A sickle cell disease Health Services and Outcomes Research Program was created in 2011.
- The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Program includes one of the largest Hemophilia Treatment Centers in the US, which provides care to children, adolescents, and adults with congenital and acquired bleeding disorders. A large, productive research program includes one of only 4 NHLBI-funded Translational Research Centers in Thrombotic and Hemostatic Disorders.
We invite inquiries and applications from early and mid-career candidates with expertise in population-based clinical epidemiology, health services research, public health and related disciplines. Candidates with strong methodological backgrounds will be preferred. The successful applicant will be expected to work in a collaborative fashion as well as become an independent investigator, conducting nationally recognized research in non-malignant hematology.
