JOB SUMMARY:
The Oncology Clinical Trials nurse is responsible for fundamental knowledge, skills and expertise required to proficiently identify and care for participants in clinical trials with a past, current or potential diagnosis of cancer, manage oncology clinical trials in diverse settings, ensure protection of subjects enrolled in clinical trials, and ensure that scientific integrity is maintained through data reliability and strict adherence to regulatory mandates.
JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:
Facilitates compliance with the requirements of the research protocol and good clinical research practice while remaining cognizant of the needs of a diverse patient population.
Utilizes multiple communication methods to facilitate the effective conduct of clinical trials.
Demonstrates leadership in ensuring patient comprehension and ! safety during initial and ongoing clinical trial informed cons! ent discussions.
Uses a variety of resources and strategies to manage the care of patients participating in clinical trials, ensuring compliance with protocol procedures, assessments, and reporting requirements as well as management of symptoms.
Provides leadership to the research team in ensuring collection of source data and completion of documentation that validates the integrity of the conduct of the clinical trial.
Utilizes a variety of strategies to enhance recruitment while being mindful of the needs of a diverse patient population.
Demonstrates leadership in ensuring adherence to ethical practices during the conduct of clinical trials in order to protect the rights and well-being of patients and the collection of quality data.
Identifies the financial variables that affect research and support good financial stewardship in clinical trials.
Takes responsibility for identifying his or her ongoing professional development needs and seeks resourc! es and opportunities to meet those needs, such as through membership in nursing, oncology, or research organizations.
10. Participates in supporting the organizationâs vision, mission and values and adheres to DeKalb Medical Standards of Behavior.
11. Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:
Georgia RN license; minimum of three years of clinical experience in oncology
BSN degree preferred
OCN certification preferred
Two (2) years of clinical trials management experience preferred
