Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES

The Phlebotomist/Service Representative performs a variety of routine clerical and receptionist duties including: receiving and ordering specimens; assisting visitors to the lab; answering phones and transferring callers to appropriate sections; giving reports over the phone; printing, sorting, and filing reports; monitoring ADT and terminal errors; faxing or calling patients and stat reports and performing other duties on the computer operational schedule. The position is responsible for obtaining specimens from patients of all age categories (infant, neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric), according to the established procedures and protocols. The Phlebotomist/Service Representative ensures specimens are processed and delivered to the appropriate section in the Laboratory in a timely manner. This laboratory provides services for patients of all ages.

J! ob Qualifications:
EDUCATION

• High sc! hool diploma or GED required. The ability to be able to read, write and adequately perform duties as listed in major areas of responsibility above.

EXPERIENCE

Phlebotomy skills and a Laboratory background preferred with computer experience.

CERTIFICATION

Phlebotomy certification required for certified level.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Substantial interpersonal and communication skills required to interact with hospital staff, physicians, and patients.
• Knowledge of terminal keyboard and multi-line phone system.
• Pleasant speaking voice.
• Knowledge of Windows and Windows NT, Microsoft Office, Excel and Word preferred.

Other Requirements (this requirement is required for select incumbents in this title to be determined by department upon hire). Not all incumbents are required to drive for this position. Requirement to be tracked by department.

Valid driver’s li! cense and report of acceptable Motor Vehicle Record for past 5 years required.
