The NICU Supervisor works closely with the Respiratory Therapy Director and the Neonatologists to oversee the quality of clini! cal practice provided by respiratory therapist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) by training, allocating, and monitoring work. He/she will provide leadership and guidance to the respiratory therapy staff and serve as a resource for the respiratory therapy department, nursing, physicians and all other hospital personnel. The NICU Supervisor will provide care to patients from newborn to pediatrics.
Must have the ability to assume leadership role in respiratory care. Must be able to organize work, to delegate effectively, and to direct and oversee the work of other respiratory care personnel. Must have the ability to recognize patient care problems and to react appropriately in patient care emergencies. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with respiratory care personnel, patients, and other members of the healthcare team. Must have the ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.
