KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Associate’s Degree in Arts! , Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering, Nursing, Information Technology,
Computer Science, Informatics or the equivalent REQUIRED. Pharmacy Technician Certification by the Georgia
Board of Pharmacy REQUIRED within 12 months of employment or position transfer. Preference will be given
to applicants with health care experience and particularly to applicants with hospital pharmacy experience.
Pharmacy technicians must be able to demonstrate efficiency typing and preparation of aseptic solutions, must
have knowledge of inpatient and outpatient drug distribution systems, and must be able to work mathematical
calculations accurately. The Pharmacy technician will be required to complete an on the job training program and
pass the final exam with a score of 80% or better. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to
provide pharmacy services appropriate to the age of the patient’s served. Must be able to demonstrate
knowledge of! the principles of growth and development over the life span. ! Must be able to assess and interpret
data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide the care needed
by our patient groups (i.e., neonate, pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric).
Advanced Level Certification
Possesses a current and valid certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Tech III status
depends upon annual certification and proof of validation from the Board.
