Job Summary
Under minimal direction of the Director of Education, provide associat! e-based education and development throughout the St. Francis organization. Plan, organize, direct, and oversee education services and programs for the organization. This occurs through the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. Work in collaboration with Managers and Directors to effectively assess and implement educational initiatives for the associates.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct needs assessments using a variety of strategic tools.
Assist learners in the assessment of needs and identification of outcomes.
Incorporate principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs.
Coordinate orientation of new staff to the organization.
Plan, prepare and maintain materials for use in educational programs for accuracy and relevance to the targe! t audience.
Identify and evaluate instructional materials ! in all types of media and formats.
Adjust content and teaching strategies appropriate learner needs.
Develop evidence-based educational materials.
Support staff development with educational activities (which include remediation, certification, mentoring, TJC Disease Specific education requirements, TJC education requirements, competency assessment, product roll-outs, etc.).
Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programming, provides annual report on educational outcomes. Identify improvements in patient outcomes as a direct result of meeting educational objectives.
Prepare short and long term planning and programs to address identified needs.
Teach content as needed and/or assigned within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development and/or safe practice.
Serve as an educational consultant to nursing councils, task forces, committees, and projects relating to policy, procedure and program development.
Consult with staff ! regarding individual learning needs.
Facilitate the adult learning process, creating a climate which supports learning across the health system.
Maintain flexibility when managing multiple roles and responsibilities.
Interpret and communicate across multiple disciplines.
Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
Other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
Qualification Requirements
Minimum Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Minimum Experience:
Two(2) years of clinical nursing experience and two (2) years of adult training/learning experience.
Licensure(s) / Certification(s):
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Georgia.
Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; BLS instructor certification is preferred.
Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider and/or instructor certification is preferred.
Valid Pediatric Advanced Life Su! pport (PALS) provider and/or instructor certification is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent leadership, strategic thinking and planning skills.
Understanding the role of media and technology in education and development.
Familiarity with popular education techniques and understanding of multiples areas of specialty and expands technical/clinical expertise.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office and media software.
Strong skills in distributing audio and embedding audio on the web.
Excellent customer service skills.
Develops and implements ideas to improve process workflow.
Excellent project management skills and can manage multiple projects at once.
Excellent research skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills â€" provides clear and concise documentation in accordance with St. Francis standards.
Experience in working collaboratively.
Ability/desire to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, and willingness to travel to off-site ! locations.
Knowledge of effective instructional methods and techniques used in assisting persons to gain the skills needed.
Problem solving skills to analyze instructional situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action to obtain maximum learning.
Ability to implement behavior modification techniques into practical situations.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization; from associate level up through management levels.
Skills to effectively use and operate audio-visual and other equipment normally used for instructing.
Ability to design and implement a six-month curriculum in consultation with the Director.
