Facility: Piedmont Newnan Hospital
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Responsible for patient evaluation and the application of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with speech and language disorders, and oral motor disorders. Provides patient care to all age groups to include pediatric, adult and geriatric. Provides professional speech/language pathology services, to all age groups, to ensure quality of patient care and to restore function. Selects evaluation tools and methods which are appropriate to the patient and conducts evaluations with skills and accuracy. Assists with measuring quality and outcomes. Maintains and documents active and supportive communication with the patient and other appropriate persons concerning goals, progress, problems, home programs and other issues related to the therapeutic process. Regularly assesses the needs of the patient, documenting realistic and appropriate short- term and long-term goals.
QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in Speech/Language Pathology. Must maintain current CEU’s required by the state. Three (3) years work experience in the area of communication/dysphasia and related disorders preferred. Licensure by the Georgia Board of Examiners of Speech/Language Pathology. Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association. CPR Certification. Demonstrates competency using appropriate equipment for patient care and general computer skills. Must have general working knowledge of therapeutic procedures. Experience with Modified Barium Swallow studies preferred.
