This position is located at the United States Army Medical Command, USA Medical Department Activity, Deputy Commander for Clinical Services, Department of Family Medicine, Pediatrics Clinic, Fort Benning, Georgia. DUTIES:
You will serve as a Physical Therapist for the Early Intervention Services (EIS) of the Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS) program. You will establish and conduct screening procedures to identify children who may require early intervention services. Coordinate and/or participate in Child Find activities to ensure that infants and toddlers with special needs are identified and referred for evaluation. Conduct family interviews and select, administer, score and interpret individually appropriate developmental assessment measures. Deliver intervention services consistent with licensure and program guidance. Maintain appropriate ongoing contact with families. Coordinate services across agency lines for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families. Serve as service coordinator for assigned families and as liaison to school-based or other community-based service delivery programs.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree: T hat included or was supplemented by (1) a physical therapy curriculum approved by a recognized professional accrediting organization at the time the curriculum was completed, and (2) the clinical affiliation requirements prescribed by the school. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Licensure/Certification: Must possess a current, active, valid and unrestricted physical therapy license from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction. Specialized Experience: One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower level (GS-09) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience which involves extensive use of physical therapy theory, principles, practices and techniques; experience providing physical therapy care to infants and toddlers with physical disabilities, neuromuscular and psychosocial dysfunctions; and experience providing intervention services to patients and their families. Education Substitution for Specialized Experience: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university that is directly related to the work of the position. Combination of Education and Experience: If you have some but not all of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you do have. To do so, compute the percentage of your requirements met, the sum of which must equal at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the initial 36 by 18. Add the two percentages.)
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas: Knowledge of pediatric educational and developmental intervention services. Knowledge of individual physical therapy treatment plans. Skill in administration and communication.

Personnel security investigation required. A medical examination is required prior to employment. Hepatitis B immunization is required (direct patient contact). This position is covered by the Drug Abuse Testing Program. Applicant drug testing and random drug testing will be required. Mandatory seasonal influenza vaccinations required annually.
