RTIâs staff in the Statistics and Epidemiology unit conduct surveys and epidemiological and clinical studies and have research interests in child and maternal health, genetics, health disparities, and other chronic and infectious diseases. We are currently seeking a medical records abstractor with experience abstracting Labor and Delivery records. This position will be located in client facilities of the CDC in Atlanta, Georgia.
Responsibilities
The person in this position serves as a Medical Records Abstractor for a study of child development and autism. Primary duties include:
- Reviewing, organizing, and abstracting study subjectsâ medical records (mothers and their children)
- Data entry and cleaning within the web-based CADDRE Information System (CIS) designed specifically for the study
- Coordinate medical record retrieval and organization with GA SEED study coordinator
- Participate in quality control (QC) exercises and achieve and maintain acceptable QC standards, during initial training and throughout the study abstraction period.
- Bachelorâs degree in Nursing with 6 years of experience or a minimum of 10 years of experience including training emphasizing medical sciences and terminology, including nursing or medical records.
- Candidates for this position will have one year (preferred) of medical record abstraction experience for with maternal and/or child medical records (includes prenatal care, labor and delivery, neonatal care and pediatric care). Prefer candidate with obstetric and/or pediatric abstraction experience.
- This position will require experience with web-based computer applications and Microsoft Access databases.
- Candidate should be well organized, highly accurate, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Data entry accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
