Description: Cartersville Medical Center is at present recruited OR Tech Certified FT Evenings right now, this position will be settled in Georgia. The Operating Room Technician (ORT), under the supervision of a registered nurse, provides intraoperative technical skills in surgical interventions to the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient population. The ORT is responsible for preparing the sterile field with equipment and instruments, utilizing perioperative standards and principles to assure the highest level of sterility and quality outcomes for the surgical patient. Promotes cost-effective supply usage. Responsible in assisting the RN with planning and implementation of patient care.
Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of AORN recommended practices and hospital policies/ standards of this facility. Utilizes effective communication skills and interacts with others in a courteous manner. Participates in performance improvement activities to assure continuous quality improvement. Maintains cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers, and all other customers.
Promotes a supportive, teamwork-oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of CMC. Promotes and maintains patient safety standards.PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSDemonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklist. Meets mutually agreed upon performance objectives as outlined on the Performance Management Plan.WORK ENVIRONMENTRegularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases.
Direct contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Subject to irregular work hours and stress due to inquiries from doctors, managers, and other staff. Must be flexible and work at a fast pace while multi-tasking. Interdisciplinary contact with other healthcare disciplines/professionals.
Handles emergency or crisis situations professionally, adapting to change as needed. Flexible in meeting the needs of the unit, i.e. change in assignments or work schedule. During low census, may be required to leave early, rotate day off, or float to other departments.
PHYSICAL ABILITIESProlonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics while moving and lifting patients or objects. Frequently lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients. Frequently moves supplies and equipment requiring moderate physical effort to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds: employee is required to obtain assistance for lifting more than 50 pounds.
Manual dexterity and mobility needed for considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and/or crouching. Able to reach above shoulders without difficulty. Able to perform several tasks simultaneously.Previous OR experience preferred.Graduate of a recognized school for ORTs or has commensurate ST experience.Basic Healthcare Provider (BLS) Certification required within 90 days of hire or promotion.Competency to assist in endoscopy procedures, ordering supplies, and sterile processing.CST certification preferred.Must be within 30 minutes of facility when on call.
